About Me

My name is John and I’m a 27 year old living in Minneapolis, MN. During the day, I work full time as an analyst crunching data. From 8-5, my calculator never leaves my side! I am originally from northern Minnesota and  graduated from the University of Minnesota-Duluth in 2014 with a degree in Business Administration while majoring in finance.

I started this blog because I’ve always been fond of anything related to economics and personal finance. I am constantly trying to read new books or articles that pertain to personal finance. Another reason I started this blog was because I feel that there are way too many people out there getting bad financial advice now days. Every day, I scroll through Facebook and Twitter and come across “advice” articles from major newspaper and magazine companies that really aren’t helping people. This needs to stop. My hope is that I can assist people in obtaining financial freedom through methods that are actually beneficial (making a budget, cutting up credit cards, staying away from 30 year mortgages, etc).

I am by no means an expert on the topic of personal finance. However, after studying the topic for years, I have educated myself to the point where I understand most of the finer points of personal finance. If you have a question about anything related to personal finance, please send an email to john@doughfordays.com and I will make my best effort to either get back to you personally or answer your question in a blog post. Thanks for visiting!
